Botox Anti-Wrinkle Injections – FAQs

These treatments should be enhancing, subtle and keep everyone guessing why you look so well. When you entrust something as precious as your face to someone, you’ll want to know that you’re in the best, safest hands.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

These injections use a purified form of Botulinum toxin, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Muscle Relaxants work by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles. It blocks the nerve impulses that cause the muscles to contract, which in turn prevents movement. This is a prescription only drug which must be prescribed by a qualified doctor, dentist, or nurse (such as Julie) after a thorough, face-to-face medical consultation.

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injection used for?

Anti-Wrinkle Injection are used for a variety of medical conditions and I prescribe it predominantly to treat lines and wrinkles. It is also a popular treatment for excessive sweating and has also been used to prevent teeth grinding, a condition which often results in headaches or migraines.

How is Anti-Wrinkle Injection used for Hyperhidrosis/Excessive Sweating?

Approximately 1% of adults suffer from this condition, which can cause embarrassment and difficulties in daily life. Muscle Relaxants are quick, simple and effective treatment and can reduce, and almost eliminate, sweating for approximately six months.

I treat hyperhidrosis by injecting Muscle Relaxants into the affected area: underarms, to prevent the glands producing sweat.

What happens during my Anti-Wrinkle Injection treatment?

The first step is a thorough consultation, when treatment is determined I will use a thin needle to inject small amounts of the Muscle Relaxant into the appropriate muscles.
This may involve several injections, depending on the size of the area we are treating. The injections don’t take long and the treatment is over very quickly.

What are the benefits of Anti-Wrinkle Injection?

Muscle Relaxants takes the form of Botox™ Azzalure, Dysport, Bocouture or Vistabel, they can beneficial in treating excessive sweating, reducing migraines, and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Are Anti-Wrinkle Injection right for me?

Muscle Relaxants are only available on prescription, so you’ll need to have a consultation in order to talk with you to determine if it’s the right treatment.

You can’t use Muscle Relaxants if you are:

• Pregnant
• Nursing
• Are allergic to any of the ingredients
• Have any Neuromuscular disorders

I will prescribe and administer the injections.

Are there any side effects from Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection?

Side effects are uncommon and minimal with Botox. You may have a headache, tenderness, swelling or bruising after treatment, but these are short-term effects and won’t last long.

Ptosis is a possible side effect. This is a mild weakness or paralysis of the eyelid or brow that causes it to droop. This is uncommon and is generally caused by an inadequate injection technique.

In very few cases there is an allergic reaction resulting in anaphylaxis, the incidence of which has been reports as 1.64%.

How long will my Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection treatment take?

It depends on the size of the area being treated, but it doesn’t take long: usually less than 30 minutes. It’s important to know that I’ll never rush your treatment and I’ll take care of you every step of the way.

When will I see a result from my Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection treatment take?

Most people notice a difference after a few days, but it can take up to two weeks.

Will it hurt?

You may feel a mild stinging sensation as the injection is given. I do have a great deal of skill and experience in carrying out this treatment and often patients comment on how gentle I am.

I’ll do it quickly, while making sure you feel comfortable at all times, so there’s no need to worry.

How much do Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection cost?

I’ll let you know the exact price during your consultation, but prices start at £285.

What do I need to do after having Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection?

You should avoid any exercise, saunas or extreme heat for 24 hours.

You should also avoid rubbing the area where you were injected to prevent spreading the Botox to other muscle groups.

Will I look unnatural?

I offer a very subtle treatment that will try to create a smoother, fresher more relaxed appearance. If however you want minimal movement we can endeavour to deliver this also.

How long after can I touch the treated area?

After any face treatment we recommend not touching the area until the following day.

What is the best age to start Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection?

This all depends on the individual and how active your facial muscles are and if you have the onset of static lines. Typically we start seeing patients in their early 40′, but if you are becoming over-expressive then it may be beneficial to start treating earlier.

How do you prevent my forehead from looking shiny?

At Facial Aesthetics we aim to achieve a very natural result, where it is almost like sprinkling the forehead with the toxin. Treating in a more conservative way and still allowing some movement should minimise any shiny forehead or startled look!

How many Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection treatments will I need?

You’ll need to come in once for the Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection(s). I’ll invite you to come in for a review after two weeks to make sure you’re happy with the results. I prefer to take a conservative approach with Muscle Relaxants, one which subtly enhances your features, rather than gives you a ‘frozen’ look, so you may need a top-up treatment to fine-tune the results.

For Hyperhidrosis you’ll only need to come in once.

How long does Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection last?

Most people choose to have another Botox Anti Wrinkle Injection treatment when movement returns to their muscles and lines begin to form again. Generally, anti-wrinkle injections are needed approximately every three to four months.

For Hyperhidrosis, you may need another treatment after about six months.
