Your Visit to Facial Aesthetics Essex:
  • Your initial visit to Facial Aesthetics Essex Skin Clinic begins with a FREE, no obligation consultation.
  • On arrival at the clinic you will be asked to complete a confidential patient records form
  • Your free consultation appointment typically lasts for around 30 minutes, we will ensure that all of your questions are answered
  • For injectable procedures (Such as Botox Injection treatments), your consultation and treatment will be carried out by our Specialist Cosmetic Nurse.
  • For Peels, HydraFacial and skin care, You Will initially be assessed by Our Specialist Cosmetic Nurse and Clinical Director to devise a Treatment Plan and then your treatment will be carried out by one of our Skin Peel Specialists.

  • Your consultation will begin by listening and understanding your concerns and discussing how to meet and try to exceed your expectations.
  • We will clearly outline the various treatment options available, together with the benefits and any potential risks of each treatment.
  • Any questions you have about the process or treatment will be answered honestly so together we decide on the most appropriate treatment for you.
  • Any necessary pre and post-treatment after-care will also be explained in detail, We will provide a link to our website for this and will also provide a paper format for you.

ZO® Skin Peels Pre-Treatment Instructions:

A proper skin evaluation prior to your peel is important and will help predict the outcome of your peel.
PATIENTS WHO SHOULD NOT BE TREATED INCLUDE:

  • Patients with active cold sores or warts, skin with open wounds, sunburn, excessively sensitive skin, dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea in the area to be treated.
  • Please inform me if you have any history of herpes simplex.
  • Patients with a history of allergies (especially allergies to salicylates like aspirin), rashes, or other skin reactions, or those who may be sensitive to any of the components in this treatment.
  • Patients who have taken Accutane within the past year
  • Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding (lactating)
  • Patients who have received chemotherapy or radiation therapy
  • Patients with vitiligo
  • Patients with a history of an autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, etc.) or any condition that may weaken their immune system
  • Note: The use of these products/treatments prior to your peel may increase skin sensitivity and cause a stronger reaction.

ONE WEEK BEFORE YOUR ZO® PEEL AVOID THESE PRODUCTS AND/OR PROCEDURES: Note: The use of these products/treatments prior to your peel may increase skin sensitivity and cause a stronger reaction.

  • Electrolysis
  • Waxing
  • Depilatory Creams
  • Laser Hair Removal
  • Patients who have had Muscle relaxants injections should wait until the full effect of their treatment has developed before receiving a ZO® Peel.
  • Products containing retinol, alpha -hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide.
  • Any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating.
  • Patients who have had medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures (e.g. laser therapy, surgical procedures, cosmetic filler, Microdermabrasion) should wait until skin sensitivity completely resolves before receiving a ZO® Peel.
  • If you have a history of herpes infection will need to start an anti-viral medication on day prior to this peel and continue for 7 days.
ZO® Skin Peels Post-Treatment Instructions:
  • Avoid washing your face or treated area for at least 5 hours after the peel. Preferably wait to wash the morning after the peel.
    The day after peel:
  • Wash the face or treated area with the cleanser from your ZO® daily skin care program. Wash the face gently for 30-40 seconds. Rinse and pat dry.
  • Apply a thin layer of ZO® Calming Crème.
  • ZO® Calming Crème may be applied 3 times daily or more often if needed. Redness, stinging, itching, mild swelling, flaking, and peeling are all normal signs after the peel and vary based on patient responses.
  • Exfoliation generally will start 2 to 3 days after the treatment and ends approximately day 5.
  • Avoid rubbing, scratching, peeling/picking the skin with your fingers while healing.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7-10 days following the peel. Sunscreen may be used after the skin has completely healed.
  • Besides the ZO® retinol crème, do not use alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, benzoyl peroxide, retinoid and other potentially irritating products until the skin is healed.
  • Avoid running water directly on your face while showering.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until skin is completely healed.
  • Avoid procedures, such as facials, hair removal, microdermabrasion, and laser until skin is fully healed.
  • After skin is healed, return to your daily ZO® skin health program.
ZO® Skin Peels Possible Side Effects:
  • It is common and expected that your skin will be red, possibly itchy and/or irritated.
  • Although rare, the following adverse experiences have been reported by patients after having a ZO® Peel: skin breakout or acne, rash, swelling, and burning.
  • Although most people experience peeling of their facial skin, not every patient notices that their skin peels. Lack of peeling is NOT an indication that the peel was unsuccessful. If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the Vitalize Peel, such as: stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminishment of fine lines and pigmentation. There are a number of reasons why a patient may not have peeling or may experience minimum peeling. The reasons may include:
    • Having peels regularly with a short interval between peels
    • Frequent use of Retin-A, AHA, or other peeling agents prior to the ZO® Peel treatment
    • Severe sun damage

  • We will provide a follow-up Post Treatment call to ensure that you are happy with your treatment.
  • Where necessary we will provide a complimentary Review and Top-up where necessary as we always want you to be happy with your treatment outcome. Please remember we will only provide a top-up where clinically indicated and within your treatment plan.
  • Any further questions you have about the process or treatment will be answered honestly.
  • For Some treatments that require regular repeat treatments throughout the year we are happy to provide a follow-up email or text. Above all, we Promise Never to force you into having a treatment and we will only ever treat where appropriate.
