Skin Tightening – Endymed™ Radio Frequency FAQ’s
“Anti-ageing procedures that were followed by days hiding inside recovering are, thankfully, a thing of the past. Skin Tightening can now be achieved safely in clinic using Radio Frequency delivered using ENDYMED™ Skin Science.”
What are the different Skin Tightening techniques offered?
ENDYMED™ uses the most advanced radiofrequency technology, 3DEEP® Skin Science, to deliver five clinically effective treatments:
- ENDYMED™ TIGHTEN: Defy gravity with firmer, tighter, lifted facial skin
- ENDYMED™ V-SHAPE: Define your jawline with tighter, lifted skin
- ENDYMED™ FSR: Eliminate wrinkles with smoother, firmer, flawless skin
- ENDYMED™ SHAPER: Regain your shape with tighter, firmer skin.
- ENDYMED™ CONTOUR: Contour your body for tighter, smoother sculpted skin, with cellulite and fat reduction
What happens during my Skin Tightening treatment?
After preparing your skin, a lubricating gel is applied to enable the Endymed hand piece to gently pass over the skin. Monitoring the heat on the skins surface the device will be maintained at a comfortable temperature to ensure an effective delivery of the Radio Frequency treatment.
For the Fractional Skin Resurfacing (FSR) a local anaesthetic cream is applied prior to treatment to make it more comfortable. The Endymed hand-piece is then passed across the skin and creates tiny skin punctures where a tiny pulse of heat is transferred to the dermal layer. This causes an inflammatory response in the skin that stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen.
What are the benefits of Skin Tightening?
It is generally recommended to have a course of treatments which can help with the following skin complaints:
- Tightening of skin around the neck, including jowls and jaw line.
- Tightening of the delicate skin around the eyes.
- Smoothing of Cellulite including body contouring.
- Décolletage can be toned and refreshed, including crepe like skin on the cheeks.
Is Skin Tightening right for me and will the treatment damage my skin?
Radio frequency is very safe and suitable for all skin types. The long wavelength of radio frequency is delivered into the skin, resistance causes heated treatment zones at controlled temperatures and this heat ‘kick starts’ a collagen remodelling process which ultimately leads to lifted, tighter skin.
The Fractional Skin Resurfacing (FSR) also ablates the outermost layer of the skin allowing new, fresh skin cells to develop. The ablation is very superficial and will not cause any damage in the dermis - the lower part of our skin.
Are there any side effects from Skin Tightening?
Immediately after the treatment you will experience some redness, which can last up to two days.
You may also develop micro-crusting, as the skin cells renew and the resurfacing takes place. This can last for five to seven days but is easy to cover with makeup.
When will I see a result from my Skin Tightening treatment?
Some results can be seen during the treatment course but this varies from person to person. Full results will be evident 3 months after the last treatment as the collagen in the skin continues to remodel over that time.
How long do the results from my Skin Tightening Treatment last?
The results from the treatment are permanent but subject to the natural ageing process. This treatment can improve the situation but ageing is a continuous downward trend (unfortunately!). There is no such thing as a single, permanent fix and this relates to surgery too.
How long does the Skin Tightening treatment take?
The treatment takes between 30 -60 Minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Is the treatment painful?
During the Skin Tightening you may feel a warm sensation in the treated area.
For the Fractional Skin Resurfacing (FSR) a local anaesthetic cream is applied 20 minutes before your treatment to make it more comfortable.
I do have a great deal of skill and experience in carrying out this treatment and often patients comment on how gentle I am. I’ll make sure you feel comfortable at all times, so there’s no need to worry.
How much does Skin Tightening cost?
I’ll let you know the exact price during your free consultation. Prices start at £250, but a course of treatments are generally recommended.
What do I need to do after having Skin Tightening?
You should avoid saunas and extreme heat for 24 hours. A recovery cream may be applied after your treatment to help soothe and calm your skin. You should avoid UV exposure for up to 3 weeks after treatment. On an on-going basis we recommend wearing sun cream and skincare products to protect and maintain the skin health, your practitioner will recommend a regime most suitable for you, which will also help maintain the results.
Who is the Skin Tightening treatment suitable for?
The treatment is generally suitable for all skin types, but not for areas with skin disease or infections.
The treatment is not suitable for anyone with Metal implants, epilepsy, a pacemaker, pregnant or breastfeeding women.
