Are Zo Skin peels right for me?

Zo Skin peels can help reduce age spots and pigmentation, helping you to feel better about yourself. They are also beneficial in treating mild acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

What Zo Skin peels are offered?

I offer two types of peels as treatments within my clinic and an at home peel:

  1. The Ossential® Stimulator Peel (See below for more info)
  2. The ZO® Medical 3 Step Stimulation Peel (See below for more info)
  3. The ZO® Invisapeel™ Intensive Resurfacing Peel (See below for more info)

To determine the most appropriate peel for your skin I will conduct a Visia skin analysis and consultation.

What is the Ossential® Stimulator Peel?

This is often referred to as a “lunch time peel” as there is no downtown, redness or peeling afterwards, just a subtle glow. It is a superficial skin peel, useful for fine to moderate lines and wrinkles, acne, age spots, uneven pigmentation and rough skin texture.

The peel contains 3 different acids to exfoliate your skin and promote cell turnover: 10% Salicylic Acid, 10% Lactic Acid and 10% Citric Acid. Normally 3-4 peels are recommended to achieve maximum benefits. These can be carried out at 2 weeks intervals.

You do not need to be using other ZO® products to avail of this peel, but if used with any of the ZO® protocols, it will maximise results. The treatment takes approximately 15 minutes for a stand-alone peel, or can be tailored to more specific skin conditions which include:

Acne and Oil Control Treatment – Minimizes oil production, large pores and inflammation.
Rejuvenation Treatment – Restore skin clarity, reduce pigment spots and discoloration.
Skin Brightening Treatment – Restore skin clarity, reduce pigment spots and discoloration, pigment spots and discolouration

What is the ZO® Medical 3 Step Stimulation Peel?

A multifunctional peel designed to provide longer lasting benefits. It improves acne, melasma (pigment spots), sun damage, fine lines, texture roughness, large pores and dullness. It works by removing the outermost layers of the skin, then stimulating deeper skin cells to restore cellular function. It includes a step to reduce skin inflammation that can be caused by peels. The peel contains a mixture of acids (17% Salicylic Acid, 10% TCA and 5% Lactic Acid).

This peel is only available to patients who are on an appropriate ZO® program for at least 6 weeks, and to maintain results it is necessary to continue a ZO® program after treatment. There is little to no downtime after this peel, with exfoliation (peeling of the skin) starting after 2-3 days and ending by approximately day 5. This peel can be repeated every 3-4 weeks.

What is the ZO® Invisapeel™ Intensive Resurfacing Peel?

The newest at-home peel to join the ZO® line-up is formulated for any area that can use some smoothing, firming, and brightening both facial and non-facial skin such as hands, arms, and legs.

Dr Obagi says “Thanks to its multi-targeted formulation, this peel is suitable for a wide range of skin types and ages. It addresses a broad spectrum of skin concerns ranging from acne and sun damage to flaky skin and roughness”. Invisapeel™ uses a unique process to renew the epidermis without any apparent exfoliation, it targets the accelerated repair of a variety of epidermal problems like acne, discoloration, flaky skin, and roughness with a specialized enzyme blend. The enzymes papain and bromelain, plus glycolic acid, enhance and accelerate repair while di-glycerine restores moisture. This enzyme blend is formulated to work with and enhance other products in the ZO® Medical range.

Usage is simple, just apply after cleansing and leave Invisapeel™ on for one to three hours. Remove and apply your regular ZO® Medical regimen. The peel can be used two to three times a week.

How long do ZO Skin Peels take?

Zo Skin peels typically take 15 minute

How much do ZO Skin Peels cost?

Having conducted a thorough skin analysis I’ll let you know the exact price during your consultation, but prices start at £80.

What are the side effects?

It is common and expected that your skin will be red, possibly itchy and/or irritated.

Although rare, the following adverse experiences have been reported by patients after having a ZO® Peel: skin breakout or acne, rash, swelling, and burning.

Although most people experience peeling of their facial skin, not every patient notices that their skin peels. Lack of peeling is NOT an indication that the peel was unsuccessful. If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the Vitalize Peel, such as: stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminishment of fine lines and pigmentation. There are a number of reasons why a patient may not have peeling or may experience minimum peeling.
