Acne is the eighth most common disease in the world affecting nearly 10 per cent of the global population and causing scarring in up to 95 per cent of sufferers.  This November, Etre Vous published their must-read guide to the latest advancements and innovations in the use of injectables to treat acne scarring and asked us to comment.

Julie, our clinical director and EV editorial panelist, was keen to point out that acne scarring is not always as it seems.  She explains:

“I get an awful lot of people coming to me for treatment of what they think is acne scarring, but is actually post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.”

Julie also adds:

“Most patients present with more than one type of acne scar, and require more than one type of treatment.  It’s usual for a treatment plan to consist of more than one thing, so starting with an accurate assessment of the types of acne scars is essential.”

Sarah Blakes in-depth article is a definitely a must-read guide.
