The sun’s rays are vital for vitamin D production. Ultra violet (UV) radiation in the sun’s rays can cause damages skin cells, causing early ageing of the skin, unsightly pigmentation.
Daily sun protection is vital regardless of sex, age or skin type. A good sun protection is important for both UVA and UVB skin damage. UVA penetrates through cloud and is present even in winter months, due to the nature of the waves it penetrates deep into the skin layers, damaging collagen and leading to premature ageing. UVB is less penetrating to the skin but causes burning and is a factor in skin cancer development.
At Facial Aesthetics we recommend the use of Heliocare 360, which has maximum protection against UVA, UVB, visible light, infrared-A, free radicals and DNA damage, nothing protects skin from premature ageing and damage to skin health like the Heliocare range. It also come in a range of formulations so it is great for every skin type.
For those of us who still like to have that healthy glow, why don’t you try our exciting new Skincare product Tan Cream, which is a self-tanning lotion with SPF.
Remember though sun-block is an essential part of any skin-care regime!

Before and After Images:
We all wear sunscreen whilst lying on the beach, but few of us use it as part of our daily skincare regime. The image above shows the striking image from the new England Journal of Medicine of a truck driver of 28 years, where the skin to the left has been protected through a lack of skin exposure, whilst the skin to the right has UV damage through the window. UVA rays are able to penetrate through clouds and glass and excessive exposure can cause the degradation of the skin fibres, causing lines and wrinkles. There are limited forms of protection for UV sun-damage, which is why wearing a high quality sunscreen is an absolute must.(Picture: New England Journal of Medicine)
